皆さまの海の記憶には、どのような物語が刻まれているでしょうか。

TAKAO ABE 第34回個展タイトルは『OCEAN』。 大自然の清浄さ、そして自然や宇宙に宿る“いきおい”や“変化と均衡”を描き続けてきた彼が、今回向き合ったのは「海」です。

波に乗る瞬間。

 太陽の光が降り注ぐ海面。 

海底のさらに奥に広がる世界。 

そして、海中から見上げる光——。

4つの視点から切り取られた作品群は、静かでありながら、力強い生命の循環を私たちに感じさせてくれます。

TAKAO ABEの作品の前に立つとき、絶え間なくエネルギーを巡らせ続ける海の、深く広大な懐に包み込まれることでしょう。

キュレーター就任のご挨拶

 森田ゆい

このたび、TAKAO ABE作品のキュレーターを務めさせていただくこととなりました。

私はこれまで日本の伝統芸能、とりわけ能楽の身体表現を研究してまいりました。そこでは、個人の感情を前面に出すのではなく、「型」を通すことで世界の摂理や人知を超えた存在を表すという独自の表現思想が存在します。

TAKAO ABEの作品に触れたとき、私はこの「型」に通じる感覚、すなわち自己表現を削ぐことで立ち現れる宇宙的な世界観、そして日本文化の根底にあるとされる「おのずから（世界そのもののうちにある、いきおい・働き＝自然）」の思想との深い共鳴を感じました。

今後は、これまで作品を愛してこられた皆様の視点を大切にしながら、伝統芸能の知見をひとつの手がかりとして、作品の新たな見え方や広がりを丁寧に提示してまいりたいと考えております。

また、講座等の機会も設けながら、皆様とともに作品の魅力を分かち合える場を育んでいけましたら幸いです。これから何卒よろしくお願い申し上げます。

Message on My Appointment as Curator

Yui Morita

I am honored to have been appointed as a curator of TAKAO ABE’s work. I would first like to express my sincere respect to all those who have supported and cherished his work over the years.

My research has focused on traditional Japanese performing arts, particularly the embodied practices of Noh. In Noh, rather than foregrounding individual emotion, a distinctive aesthetic is cultivated in which the principles of the world and forces beyond human understanding are expressed through kata (formalized patterns of movement).

When I encountered TAKAO ABE’s work, I felt a deep resonance with this sensibility. By paring away personal expression, his work allows a cosmic vision of the world to emerge—one that reflects a deeper order. I was particularly struck by its affinity with the Japanese concept of onozukara: the inherent dynamism within the world itself, the self-arising movement we call nature.

Moving forward, while honoring the perspectives of those who have long engaged with his work, I hope to offer new ways of seeing through the lens of traditional performing arts. 

I also look forward to creating opportunities, such as lectures and gatherings, where we can share and explore the richness of his work together.
